Write with me in Steamboat Springs this summer!

One Song. One Weekend. One-on-One with Joe Eddie.

A private creative retreat for songwriters and song-dreamers in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

July 18–21, 2025

Transform Your Songwriting in the Mountains

Experience the magic of Steamboat Springs—where every sunrise, every mountain breeze, and every note brings you closer to your song. This is your creative escape, your chance to write something real and lasting with Joe Eddie as your guide.

About This Weekend

This isn’t a workshop. It’s not a seminar or a group retreat. This is a personal songwriting journey—just you and Joe Eddie.

Over the course of a weekend in the breathtaking mountain town of Steamboat Springs, you’ll work directly with Joe Eddie to uncover, shape, and bring to life your song. Whether it’s a love letter, a story from your life, or a tune that’s been stuck in your heart for years, this weekend is about crafting something real and lasting.

Special Note: Joe’s friend Chad Hollister, a professional songwriter and award-winning musician from Vermont, will be in Steamboat Springs with his own small group of songwriters. We’ll join Chad and his group for key moments throughout the weekend—including dinner at Tahk Sushi and live music in Steamboat Springs—offering a unique chance to connect, share, and celebrate music together.

Why, Baby?

Why, Baby?

Why, Baby?

Baby,

Roses are red, violets are blue
We’re gonna have to come up with some other color
to describe
your hue

Day into night, night into day
I don’t know, I don’t keep track of time
now anyway

That’s just how things have been rollin’ these days

I saw you bend down, I saw you cry
The only question I have is why?

We go downtown baby, you talk so rough
You combed your hair back, with your cap you look so tough
What’cha gonna do with it, when I told you not to go down
Just like in that song, you don’t take your guns downtown

No!
Why, baby, baby, why?
Why, baby, why?

Two steps forward, one step back
I’m goin’ away, rollin’ down the track
I held you once, I can do it again
Strangers to lovers, then lovers back to friends

And it’s just one more question
that I have to ask you,

Why, baby, why?
Why?

New Music: Amaryllis

New song demo, “Amaryllis”, by Joe Eddie

Amaryllis

Amaryllis

Belladonna lily, beautiful lady
Sparkling mistress of the open sands
I have come to set you free, baby put your trust in me
To understand, take my hand; you’re a flower, I’m a man

Amaryllis, I hope you do
Amaryllis, I’m determined to
Amaryllis, I promise you
O Amaryllis, Amaryllis,
Amaryllis, I love you

White with crimson, from the winter rains
You bring me hope from the Western Cape
How I long to see you bloom in the springtime afternoon
Know too well to kiss and tell, the game’s the same, I’m for sale

Amaryllis, I hope you do
Amaryllis, I’m determined to
Amaryllis, I promise you
O Amaryllis, Amaryllis,
Amaryllis, I love you

~ dance ~

Amaryllis, I love you

Ocean winds like a shepherdess swoon amongst the coastal rocks
Naked lady amongst the flower blooms, I’m your nightly moth
Do not fear, we’ll be coming back next year
To understand, take my hand; you’re a flower, I’m a man

Amaryllis, I hope you do
Amaryllis, I’m determined to
Amaryllis, I promise you
O Amaryllis, Amaryllis,
Amaryllis, Amaryllis, I love you

Amaryllis, baby, I love you

Amaryllis,
Amaryllis, I love you
